Missouri Department of Transportation Director Kevin Keith told lawmakers Wednesday that charging tolls may be the best way - perhaps the only way - to get enough money to rebuild Interstate 70 across outstate Missouri.
"It may not work for I-70," Keith explained. "But the first piece of that is, we have to have legislative approval to start that process - and then see, through the private sector, is this model actually financially viable?"
Keith said MoDOT's administrators "think it's an option worth talking about."
