WARDSVILLE, Mo. - All the buzz heading into Blair Oaks' state quarterfinal game was about Macon's dominating defense, a unit that allowed only 3.8 points per game in 2011. The Falcons weren't listening.

The Falcons hung 27 points on the Tigers and advanced to the Class 2 semifinals with a 27-14 victory Saturday afternoon.

After falling behind 7-0 early, Blair Oaks' offense went to work, responding with 21 straight points. The defense then hung on to pull out the win.

"I'm extremely proud of our kids," Blair Oaks coach Brad Drehle said.
