"Even the Grinch Loves The Salvation Army." At least that's what was on the sign he held as the Lewis and Clark Middle School choir provided Christmas carols at the organization's Red Kettle Campaign kickoff Friday.

Appropriately, the young singers rang "Jingle Bells" as they sang the same-titled song.

That's the sound that will be heard across Jefferson City from Tuesday through Saturday until Dec. 24 at the entrances of several retail stores, including event host Schnuck's.

The Army hopes to receive donations up to $240,000 through the kettles and the direct mail fundraising efforts.
