Crocker Man Faces Criminal Charges in Fatal Wreck

Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman reports that a Crocker man is facing additional criminal charges in connection with a fatal auto accident in Sept. that has now claimed the life of a woman from Jefferson City.

Heitman said on Tuesday, John D. Mazurek, 24, was in Maries County Court for a preliminary hearing.

The Honorable Kerry Rowden bound Mazurek over for trial after the hearing.

Mazurek is currently charged with involuntary manslaughter for the death of Wilberta Randolph, Meta, and he has been charged with felony assault.

Mazurek may also be facing another Involuntary manslaughter charge because the other passenger, Helen Wieberg of Jefferson City, has also died as a result of her injuries during the accident.

Heitman said it is expected that Mazurek will also be charged with DWI after the blood results return for the Missouri Highway Patrol Lab.

Mazurek remains in the Maries County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

At 12:12 pm on September 1 members of the Maries County Sheriff's Office responded to Missouri 133 in Meta for a two car motor vehicle accident.

As a result of that accident, Randolph, was pronounced dead at the scene, and her mother,Wieberg, was seriously injured.

After further investigation, the driver of the other vehicle, Mazurek, was arrested.
