There is a phrase that the Greek philosopher Plato kept at the center of his teachings: "Know thyself."

That phrase has been at the center of the research for Jason Luebbering and Mark Kaiser, co-chairs of the Millbottom Action Team, as they have approached their task as part of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce's economic development plan, "Transformation."

As is the case with the rest of the action teams, Luebbering, Kaiser and the rest of the team members are looking to find ways to capitalize on their particular part of Jefferson City to both stimulate the economy and make the city look more attractive to prospective residents. The other teams are exploring areas like the Missouri State Penitentiary, Old Town, downtown, Lincoln University, St. Mary's Hospital, economic development, retail attraction and business growth.

In terms of the Millbottom, the team looks at the Missouri River as its most vital asset.
