Several Crusaders competing at state track meet

The Helias Crusaders and Lady Crusaders didn't have their best days last Saturday.

But there's still another chance.

"They all know what they have to do, now it's a matter of going out there and doing it," Helias coach Tom Emmel said as the Crusaders and Lady Crusaders prepared for the Class 3 State Track and Field Championships that start today at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

Helias qualified in four events on both the boys and girls sides. But Helias finished third or fourth in seven of them at the sectional meet, meaning they have a big hill to climb to make it into medal contention.

"You can take two avenues in our situation," Emmel said. "You can say it's an honor to make it to state or you can believe that it was a bad day for good people."
