BRANSON, Mo. (AP) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' decision to open floodgates at Table Rock Dam is causing some flooding in Branson.
The storm that brought a deadly tornado to Joplin on Sunday also dropped heavy rain, prompting the corps to open 10 floodgates 1 foot at Table Rock Dam on Monday. Floodgates upstream from Beaver Lake also were opened.
The corps is releasing 53,600 cubic feet per second from Table Rock Lake Tuesday and has no plans to increase the flow.
The Springfield News-Leader reports that Branson officials said homes along Lake Taneycomo that flooded last month are flooding again Tuesday.
The city has evacuated the Lakeside RV Park south of Branson Landing, where water is over the boardwalk. The rest of Branson has not been affected by high water.
