St. Louis area woman's car in demand with thieves

ST. LOUIS (AP) - It's not a typical target for car thieves, but a St. Louis County woman's 1993 Ford Crown Victoria has proven to be quite a temptation.

Seventy-four-year-old Shirley Parrott's car was stolen from her driveway on Mother's Day night and again one week later. Police recovered it both times, mostly recently Tuesday morning when county police spotted it running but abandoned.

Parrott says the ignition area was damaged, and some stripping is gone. And she's angry about the timing of the first heist. KTVI-TV reports that Parrott has a message for the thief or thieves: "If you're a young guy, would you do it to your mother? It was Mother's Day night and you did this to me!"

Police say it's unclear if the two thefts are related.
