Jefferson City sales tax figures are improving, but questions still remain about a large deficit from earlier in the year.
During the monthly meeting of the Jefferson City Council's finance committee, Finance Director Steve Schlueter presented the sales-tax receipts for April and May. Both months came in significantly higher than the budgeted projections, combining for more than $330,000 over budget projections for the two months.
