Diabetes poses a challenge during medical mission to Dominican Republic

When Erin Hutton, physicians' assistant with JCMG, went on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic, she learned that diabetes is a hard disease to manage no matter where a person is. But for those like the people she helped, it can be much harder.

"They had nothing. They did not check their blood sugar," she said. "Most of the people we checked had a blood sugar of 200-400, which is not good."
