When Erin Hutton, physicians' assistant with JCMG, went on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic, she learned that diabetes is a hard disease to manage no matter where a person is. But for those like the people she helped, it can be much harder.
"They had nothing. They did not check their blood sugar," she said. "Most of the people we checked had a blood sugar of 200-400, which is not good."
