Royals trade Blanco

KANSAS CITY (AP) - The Kansas City Royals have traded minor-league outfielder Gregor Blanco to the Washington Nationals for a player to be named.

The 27-year-old Blanco was hitting .196 with four RBI and 12 runs scored for Triple-A Omaha. He had stolen nine bases in 10 attempts.

The Royals acquired Blanco from Atlanta with pitchers Tim Collins and Jesse Chavez last July 31 for pitcher Kyle Farnsworth and outfielder Rick Ankiel.

Blanco is a career .258 hitter in parts of three big-league seasons with Atlanta and Kansas City.

The Nationals assigned Blanco to Triple-A Syracuse.
