Although there is no money available now, Cole County commissioners are looking at the most effective ways to bid and build an extension of Wildwood Drive from Edgewood Drive to Rock Ridge Road.
During a commission meeting Thursday, public works officials told commissioners they weren't suggesting this needed to be scheduled for later this year, but could be done whenever the commission saw the funds were available.
The feeling was that bids for the project should be let in October or November to get the grading done before winter. Then workers would do paving, curb and gutter, along with stormwater work, and have that completed by the end of the next construction season.
Two years ago, the project cost was estimated at $2.9 million.
