Your Opinion: Korean vets in line for honor

Dear Editor:

As a veteran of the "Forgotten War," (Korea) I have a vague idea of what the veterans of World War II must have experienced. We, as citizens of this Great Nation, owe it to these men to honor and thank them for their service for their country and humanity.

There is some appreciation shown via the Missouri Honor Flight Program. At no cost to the veteran, they are flown back to Washington, D.C., to tour the memorials in their honor, plus other viewings. If there are vets who are unaware of this program, they can contact the Central Missouri Honor Flight located in Columbia for particulars. Their e-mail address is: [email protected]

As for the Korean vets, there is a plan to have honor flights for them once the WW II vets have been completed. In the meantime, these vets should request and submit an application to the Central Missouri Honor Flight program for recognition.
