A northwest Missouri man has admitted embezzling nearly $770,000 from companies that operate nursing homes and in-home care providers.
The U.S. Attorney's office says 45-year-old Glenn Wade Muir III, of St. Joseph, pleaded guilty Thursday to a single count of bank fraud stemming from the embezzlement scheme.
Muir worked for several years as chief financial officer of a pair of sister companies, Quality of Life Management Inc. and Saxton's Christian Care and Investments Inc.
Muir embezzled more than $769,000 over a five-year period by forging the owners' names on checks. He also lied about paying the corporations' taxes.
Muir fled St. Joseph in May 2009 after stealing about $24,000. He was arrested last October in Las Vegas.
