United Way makes grants available

The United Way of Central Missouri is offering grants to area agencies effective immediately.

During their regular March meeting, the United Way of Central Missouri Board of Directors approved up to $50,000 to be used for the 2011 grants.

Grants are open to any non-profit health or human service agency in the United Way of Central Missouri service area.

Grants must further the mission of the United Way to help local people in need and provide community solutions; and addresses a need in the area of food, shelter, education, employment, health, or transportation. Grants must have measurable program outcomes and serve Central Missouri communities in part or all of Cole, Moniteau, Osage, and southern Callaway counties. Applying agencies must be in business for two or more years. Grant money may be used as matching dollars. Grant money may not be used for capital campaigns.

For a complete list of grant criteria and/or a grant application, contact Ann Bax, United Way of Central Missouri president/CPO, at 636-4100 or by email at [email protected]. All applications must be returned to the United Way of Central Missouri office by noon on April 15.

A committee comprised of United Way board members, fund allocation members and additional volunteers will review the grant and membership applications. Grant money will be released beginning in late May.
