Treasurer to open state's lost and found vault

State Treasurer Clint Zweifel is preparing to open Missouri's vault of unclaimed property.

Billed by Zweifel's office as "Missouri's Largest Lost and Found," the vault will be opened Tuesday morning at the Truman State Office Building in Jefferson City. Unclaimed property sent to the state from abandoned safe deposit boxes will also be on display.

The treasurer's office says the vault contains a small portion of about $600 million worth of unclaimed property from about 3.5 million accounts.

People can also search for unclaimed property that belongs to them on the treasurer's website.
