FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The search for Arkansas' next basketball coach officially enters its second week today, with no announcement from the university, but plenty of Internet chatter.
CBSSports.com's Gary Parrish, citing a source close to the Arkansas program, reported late Saturday night that Missouri Coach Mike Anderson was "close to reaching an agreement in principle" to take the Razorbacks' job, but added a deal had not been finalized.
Before the CBSSports.com report, there was a Twitter post by Chris Lincoln of Tulsa television station KTUL Saturday night. It said: "Reports out of Arkansas say Mizzou coach Mike Anderson to be introduced [Sunday] in Fayetteville as Razorbacks new head basketball coach," and it sparked more speculation.
No Arkansas media outlets had reported Sunday that Anderson was about to be hired, nor could any sources confirm to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on Sunday that Anderson will be hired at Arkansas.
