Dear Editor:
I was reading the article in the March 2 newspaper concerning Rep. Jay Barnes' bill to combine the February presidential preference primary with the August primary and hold just one presidential primary in June as a means of cost cutting.
As I was thinking about that, which by the way may have its benefits, maybe he could expand on that bill a little by disallowing any future amendments to be put on the ballot for a vote of the people. That should also save quite a bit of money.
It appears obvious that our representatives consider themselves much more knowledgeable as how things should be in the state of Missouri.
Just consider that without any research and just from my memory they have repealed or are in the process of repealing five amendments that the people in this state have already voted on.
So why waste all that money putting amendments on the ballots so that at a later date the representatives have to revisit the amendment to undo something they obviously believe the voters didn't understand. We could just make it easy on ourselves and let our representatives make those decisions for us and skip the voting part.
