5 men split reward in Barefoot Bandit case

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A $10,000 FBI reward for the capture of the man accused of being the "Barefoot Bandit" has been split among five men who helped Bahamian authorities in last summer's arrest.

Colton Harris-Moore was arrested in connection with a two-year, cross-country string of burglaries and thefts attributed to the "Barefoot Bandit." The thefts included five planes and dozens of cars and boats.

FBI Special Agent Fred Gutt confirmed the reward payout but offered few details.

Jordan Sackett tells the Daily Herald of Everett in an e-mail that he got some of the money, as did four others. Strachan was a security guard at an area resort.

Harris-Moore, 19, faces a five-count indictment in federal court, plus more than a dozen felony charges in three counties in Washington and in Nebraska.

The "Barefoot Bandit" moniker was coined after a thief committed some of the crimes without socks or shoes and gained a big following on the Internet.
