JCPS alumni to honor two at banquet

A 1985 graduate and a Jefferson City Public Schools figure will be honored by the schools' alumni association.

Heather Triplett Biehl will receive the 2011 Distinguished Alumna Award, which recognizes Jefferson City High School graduates who have brought honor to their alma mater by professional achievements and community service.

Biehl is an authority on counterterrorism, serving as a former Middle East analyst for the CIA and a defense industry executive. She has briefed presidents, jumped out of helicopters and pitched technology to the country's top intelligence agencies.

John "Pete" Adkins, a coach from 1958-1994, will be named an honorary alumni. The only other time the association has given such distinction was to Richard Pemberton, a long-time high school principal.

The Distinguished Alumni Award Banquet will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. May 14 at the Truman Hotel. Tickets are $30 for an individual or $50 for a pair. Call (573) 635-9513 or (573) 635-9510 for more information.
