KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Cade Davis scored 24 points and Oklahoma hit nine 3-pointers en route to an 84-67 victory over short-handed Baylor in the first round of the Big 12 tournament Wednesday.
A few hours before tipoff, Baylor's standout freshman, Perry Jones, was declared ineligible by the NCAA. The issue is whether he or his family received preferential treatment or improper benefits before he enrolled.
Carl Blair had 14 points and 11 assists and Clark Cameron had 10 points for 10th-seeded Oklahoma (14-17), which next faces No. 10 Texas. Quincy Acy had 21 points and Anthony Jones 13 for Baylor (18-13).
With the 6-foot-11 Jones out and leading scorer LaceDarius having a poor game, the Bears never threatened.
Dunn, the Big 12's all-time leading scorer, had foul trouble and scored just 11 points on 3-for-14 shooting. He extended his school record to 45 straight games with at least one 3-pointer but needs two more 3s to set the Big 12 record.
Dunn was bummed by the NCAA's decision on Jones.
"He was a brother to me," Dunn said. "It don't just affect him, his family. It affects the whole 13 guys on the bench, starting with the head coach going on down."
Oklahoma State 53, Nebraska 52
Keiton Page scored 16 points and Nebraska failed to get off a shot in the final seconds, allowing Oklahoma State to hold on for a 53-52 victory Wednesday in the first round of the Big 12 tournament.
Page, who led the Big 12 by shooting 90.2 percent from the foul line, missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with only seconds left and Nebraska grabbed the rebound.
But Lance Jeter fell down under the Nebraska basket and the Cornhuskers could not get off a shot before the buzzer sounded and sent the Cowboys (19-12) into the second round against top-seeded and No. 2 Kansas.
Page drilled 3-pointers on consecutive possessions to give the Cowboys the lead after Nebraska (19-12) had overcome horrific 22.6 percent first-half shooting and taken the lead against an Oklahoma State team that was almost equally as cold.
Colorado 77, Iowa State 75
Alec Burks scored 25 of his 29 points in the second half and Colorado unleashed a 12-2 run in the final minutes to slip past 12th-seeded Iowa State 77-75 Wednesday in a hard-fought first-round game in the Big 12 tournament.
Jake Anderson had a career-high 33 points for the Cyclones (16-16), the second-highest total ever scored by a college player in the Sprint Center. The Iowa State senior was 13-for-20 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range, but the Cyclones lost their sixth straight Big 12 tournament game.
Burks, one of two unanimous picks on the All-Big 12 team, was 9-for-16 from the floor and 11-of-14 from the foul line as the Buffaloes (20-12) advanced to the second round against No. 19 Kansas State, a team they beat twice in the regular season.
Missouri 88, Texas Tech 84
Marcus Denmon scored 20 points, leading Missouri past Texas Tech 88-84 in the first round of the Big 12 tournament Wednesday night.
Twice Missouri (23-9) had big runs and appeared to pull away. But the Red Raiders (13-19) responded each time and made it close before the Tigers finally nailed down the victory to end a three-game losing streak and advance to a second-round game today against Texas A&M (8:30 p.m., ESPN2-TV).
