CMCA Head Start to celebrate 100-Man Lunch

Central Missouri Community Action will host its seventh annual 100-Man Lunch event throughout its area Head Start locations.

Established in 2004, the event celebrates the importance of male role models for children. Because male involvement is linked to the success of preschool age children, fathers, grandfathers and uncles are being invited to have lunch with their young family members.

CMCA is also encouraging the participation of community leaders to provide support to the young children that may not have a positive male role model who can attend.

The 100-Man Lunch will be held at nearly 20 Head Start and Early Head Start sites within the CMCA eight-county service area, which includes Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau and Osage counties.

Contact Head Start to reserve a plate. The hour-long event will take place at a variety of times at each location in Jefferson City on Thursday.

The locations and times include: Cole East, 605 Cherry St., will hold sessions at 11:15 a.m., noon and 1:15 p.m.; Cole West, 2010 William St., will hold sessions at 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
