While a legislative battle took place down the hall, a battle of the minds took place in the Capitol Rotunda on Thursday.
Fourteen teams of fourth- through ninth-grade students from across the state competed in a FIRST Lego League competition.
The home team was S&L Robotics, a group of home-schooled students from Holts Summit, Jefferson City and Tebbetts.
What began as a way to give the boys in the group something to do has grown into a kind of competitive sport.
While the girls took dance lessons, the boys began a robotics club to learn how to build and program Lego robots.
