New state Auditor Tom Schweich on Monday endorsed a bill that expands information posted on the Missouri Accountability Portal, a website created during the Matt Blunt administration to help Missourians see how their taxes are spent.
"I'm happy to lend my moral support to this effort," Schweich said Monday afternoon. "I think anything that expands public access to information is important."
Rep. Jason Smith, R-Salem, sponsored the bill adding public schools and county governments to the agencies supplying records placed on the Accountability Portal, www.mapyourtaxes.mo.gov, to help Missourians see their government's expenses.
