Grand opening set for new Cole County Jail

The Cole County Commission and the Office of Sheriff announce the Grand Opening of the New Sheriff's Office and Jail will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 15, by the main entrance off the 300 block of East High Street, across from the library.

Following the ribbon cutting, tours of the facility are available through the day until 4 p.m.

Also, tours are available from 10 am through 4 pm on Saturday, July 16. Tours begin on the hour.

The sheriff and commissioners have also announced the hosting of "Bed, Breakfast, and Bars" at the new jail on either the 15th or 16th of July.

Each participant will eat both dinner and breakfast with their housing unit mates, tour the jail, talk with their fellow jailbirds, and sleep in their own cell.

Our Early Jailbirds will receive a bed, breakfast, and bars, a Cole County Jail t-shirt and your "booking photo" will be emailed to your address.

The cost is $30.00 per person.

Any monies raised, after expenses, are split between funding additional needs of the sheriff's office and the Cole County Pacesetter program for the United Way of Central Missouri.

Booking time (check-in) is 5:30 pm. Release time (check-out) is 8 am.

Space is limited.

Adults 17 and over only. We promise a safe and educational, "Bed, Breakfast, and Bars".
