Change of venue sought in Plunkett murder case

FULTON, Mo. - An attorney for Sandra Plunkett, 37, Holts Summit, who is accused of killing her husband on New Year's Day, has asked the Callaway County Circuit Court for a change of venue.

Justin Carver, a court-appointed public defender representing Plunkett, filed the motion. He stated no reason for the proposed change.

Judge Gary Oxenhandler, presiding judge of the 13th Judicial Circuit Court serving Boone and Callaway counties, has ordered a hearing on the change of venue motion at 9 a.m. Monday.

Plunkett has been held in custody without bail since the first-degree murder was filed against her on Jan. 5. She is charged with the Jan. 1 shooting death of her husband, retired 52-year-old Jefferson City police officer Paul Plunkett.
