CAMDENTON - A late-night fire destroyed a home off Ball Park Road on Wednesday as firefighters battled the blaze for an hour.

According to Mid-County Fire Protection District Fire Chief Scott Frandsen, firefighters were dispatched to the fire about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday.

The first engine arrived at 9:14 p.m. and found the two-story residence engulfed in flames. The fire had burned through roof and the walls were collapsing. The house, which was unoccupied at the time of the fire, was about 500 feet from the main road at the end of a narrow driveway, Frandsen said.

The fire is under investigation, but is not considered suspicious, Frandsen stated.

The Mid-County Fire District responded with three engines, three tankers and a ladder truck manned by 18. The Camdenton Fire Department, which was manned by five, Camden County Sheriff's Department and the Camdenton Police Department assisted the Mid-County Fire Protection District.
