Bustamante lawyers seek hearing on motion for "testing'

Alyssa Bustamante's lawyers want Cole County Presiding Circuit Judge Patricia Joyce to allow the teen to be moved from the Morgan County Jail in Versailles "for testing."

Bustamante, now 17, faces first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges for the Oct. 21, 2009, killing of Elizabeth Olten, 9.

Bustamante, then 15, was certified to stand trial as an adult and, since November 2009, has been held in the Versailles jail for Cole County.

Public Defenders Donald Catlett and Charles Moreland filed their new motion Monday, seeking a hearing this afternoon.

The kind of testing sought and the time and place for the testing were "redacted" - cut out and not printed - in the copy of the motion released to the media Monday afternoon.
