Kreklow decides to leave Missouri program, leaving team with just nine players

The Missouri basketball roster got a little smaller Thursday.

Missouri coach Frank Haith said guard Ricky Kreklow will not return to the team for his sophomore season.

"We certainly hate to see Ricky leave our program but we understand the decision," Haith said during the Big 12 coaches teleconference Thursday. "He's a Columbia kid and was a great player here at Rock Bridge. ... But Ricky has expressed that he'd like to spread his wings a little bit and get away from home."

Kreklow - whose father, Wayne, is Missouri's head volleyball coach and whose mother, Susan, is the school's director of volleyball - averaged nine minutes in 32 games played last season. He averaged 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds a game.

Haith did not say what Kreklow's plans were, but wished the Columbia native the best wherever he ends up.

"It's one of those things where he really wants to go away and experience and have a different college experience being away from home," Haith said.
