"Summertime, and the living is easy."

For people who need refuge from the heat, the feel-good lullaby lyrics don't ring true.

With temperatures soaring in the mid-90s, the local Salvation Army is seeing an increase in people seeking shelter from the heat. The Samaritan Center, meanwhile, just gave out 71 fans Tuesday and says there's a need for many more.

Barely into the second week of June, temperatures are hovering in the mid-90s. But for many, the good news is that's not necessarily foreshadowing for this summer, which starts June 21.
