Charlottesville Regional

Virginia 13, East Carolina 1

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Tyler Wilson pitched 6 1/3 strong innings and Chris Taylor drove in four runs as Virginia beat East Carolina 13-1 on Sunday to win the Charlottesville Regional.

The Cavaliers (52-9), the No. 1 national seed, won their seventh in a row, set the school mark for victories and will host a super regional next weekend for the second consecutive year.

Wilson (8-0) scattered seven hits, struck out seven and walked one.

East Carolina (41-21) had beaten St. John's 6-4 earlier in the day, but had no answer for the Cavaliers. Virginia scored 11 of its runs - and 23 of 28 this weekend - with two outs.

East Carolina 6, St. John's 4

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Brad Mincey allowed one run in five innings of relief and East Carolina beat St. John's.

Corey Thompson had three hits, including a two-run homer, and Chase McDonald drove in the go-ahead run for the Pirates with an infield grounder in the fifth inning. St. John's (36-22) had rallied from three runs down to tie it in the fourth, but managed just two hits against Mincey (6-4).

Gainesville Regional

Florida 11, Miami 4

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Preston Tucker drove in five runs, Alex Panteliodis pitched six shutout innings and Florida beat rival Miami 11-4 to win the Gainesville Regional on Sunday.

The Gators eliminated the Hurricanes from the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive year and will host Georgia Tech or Mississippi State in a super regional next weekend.

Florida (48-16) also extended its recent dominance in the in-state series, beating Miami (38-23) for the eighth straight time and 11th in the last 12 games.

Miami 6, Jacksonville 3

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Miami scored four times in the eighth inning, the last coming on a bases-loaded walk, and beat Jacksonville to stay alive.

Miami trailed 3-0 after seven innings and looked lethargic most of the day. But Rony Rodriguez got the comeback started with a leadoff homer to start the eighth.

The Hurricanes have won 10 straight against Jacksonville (37-24).

Chapel Hill Regional

North Carolina 9, James Madison 3

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Chaz Frank drove in three runs, and North Carolina pulled away late to beat James Madison and win the Chapel Hill Regional.

Tommy Coyle and Brian Holberton added two RBIs apiece for the Tar Heels (48-14). They won three games by a combined 27-3 and will host the Fullerton Regional winner next weekend in the super regionals.

Jake Lowery's two-run homer in the fifth tied it at 3 for James Madison (42-19). North Carolina, which reached four straight College World Series from 2006-09, improved to 15-0 since 2006 in regional games at home.

James Madison 5, Maine 2

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Jake Lowery drove in three runs and James Madison beat Maine.

Evan Scott (4-3) struck out four and scattered four hits over 7 1-3 innings for the Dukes.

James Madison took control with three consecutive run-scoring hits off starter A.J. Bazdanes in the second, capped by Lowery's double.

Joey Martin gave the Black Bears (33-24) an early lead with a run-scoring single in the first. Michael Fransoso made it 4-2 with an RBI triple in the third.

Atlanta Regional

Mississippi St. 7, Georgia Tech 3

ATLANTA (AP) - C.T. Bradford drove in four runs and Nick Routt pitched a six-hitter to help Mississippi State win the Atlanta Regional and eliminate Georgia Tech.

The Bulldogs (37-23) will visit Florida in a super regional matchup next week.

Georgia Tech (42-21) committed five errors and lost the Atlanta Regional at home for the third straight year.

Routt (3-2) allowed three runs - two earned - with one walk and six strikeouts. The complete game was the fifth of Routt's career and first since 2009, helping the Bulldogs reach the super regionals for the first time since 2007.

Georgia Tech 12, Austin Peay 2

ATLANTA (AP) - Buck Farmer threw a five-hitter and Daniel Palka and Jake Davies each hit two-run homers in Georgia Tech's win over Austin Peay.

Farmer (11-3) allowed two runs, walked two and struck out nine against Austin Peay (34-24).

Georgia Tech led 3-0 in the first on Palka's 12th homer, while Davies' fifth homer came in the Jackets' five-run seventh.

Houston Regional

California 6, Rice 3

HOUSTON (AP) - California scored three runs on three errors in the eighth inning and eliminated Rice, the No. 8 national seed.

California (33-21) moved on to face Baylor in the regional championship round.

After a lightning delay of 2 hours, 43 minutes in the middle of the eighth, Cal loaded the bases on two errors. With two outs, two runs scored on an error by second baseman Michael Ratterree, and Tony Renda added an RBI single to make it 6-3. The Owls (42-21) made five errors in the game.

Columbia Regional

Stetson 5, North Carolina St. 3

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Ben Carhart had two hits and an RBI and Jake Boyd got the final two outs with the go-ahead run at the plate in Stetson's victory over North Carolina State.

Stetson (43-18) needed to defeat defending national champion South Carolina twice Monday to advance to the super regional series. Their game Sunday night was suspended by a severe thunderstorm that knocked out power to Carolina Stadium.

The game was scheduled to resume at 1 p.m. Monday with South Carolina leading 4-1 in the top of the fifth inning.

The Wolfpack ended the season at 35-27.

Fort Worth Regional

Oral Roberts 8, TCU 4

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Chris Elder hit a grand slam and Oral Roberts eliminated TCU.

The Golden Eagles (38-21) needed to beat Dallas Baptist later Sunday and Monday night to advance to the super regionals for the first time.

Joe Spring (5-1), who relieved starter Bryce Smolen in the third, picked up the victory. Reliever Erik Miller (7-7) took the loss for TCU (43-19).

TCU starter Kyle Winkler, who has battled elbow soreness this season, left in the first inning holding his right elbow.

Corvallis Regional

Georgia 5, Creighton 4, 11 innings

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Brandon Stephen's two-out single to right field in the bottom of the 11th gave Georgia a victory over Creighton in an elimination game.

The Bulldogs (33-31) had to regroup quickly to face Oregon State on Sunday night.

Earl Daniels (1-0) came in with a runner on first and no outs in the 11th to claim the win.

Kurt Spomer (3-4) gave up the winning hit for Creighton (45-16).

Austin Regional

Texas 9, Kent St. 3

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Kevin Lusson hit a three-run homer and Texas cruised past Kent State on Sunday night to force a deciding game in the Austin Regional.

The Longhorns (46-16) and Golden Flashes (45-16) will play again Monday, with the winner advancing to the super regionals.

Texas scored three runs in the first, and led 6-3 before Lusson - whose single won it against Texas State earlier in the day - sealed it with his homer in the ninth.

Texas 4, Texas St. 3

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Kevin Lusson hit an RBI single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, leading Texas past Texas State.

With the score tied at 3, the Longhorns loaded the bases with one out. Lusson bounced a single to right to win it.

Jeff McVaney (1-3), who started the game in right field, pitched 2 1-3 innings of relief for Texas State (41-23) in the loss. Corey Knebel (3-2) came on in relief of Cole Green in the ninth and allowed the tying run - unearned - on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Kubitza.

Clemson Regional

Connecticut 12, Coastal Carolina 6

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - LJ Mazzilli had three hits and two RBIs and freshman Brian Ward pitched eight strong innings to lead Connecticut over Coastal Carolina in an elimination game.

Mike Nemeth had four hits and two RBIs for the Huskies (43-18-1), who advanced to play host Clemson (43-18) Sunday night.

Ward (6-1) allowed three earned runs and six hits while tying his longest outing of the season. Josh Conway (8-2) left in the fifth with Coastal Carolina (42-20) trailing 4-3. The Chanticleers' four errors led to seven unearned runs.

Tallahassee Regional

Alabama 12, Central Florida 5

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Taylor Dugas homered and Alabama used 15 hits against five Central Florida pitchers to cruise to victory.

The game was tied at 4 in the bottom of the fifth when Brett Booth scored on a passed ball for Alabama (35-27), which was to play Florida State (44-17) on Sunday night.

Alabama left-hander Jonathan Smart (5-3), who had 10 saves in the regular season, gave up 11 hits but allowed just two earned runs in eight innings against Central Florida (39-23).

College Station Regional

Arizona 6, Seton Hall 0

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Konner Wade threw seven shutout innings to lead Arizona past Seton Hall in an elimination game.

Cole Frenzel led the Wildcats (38-20) with three RBIs, while Bryce Ortega had three of Arizona's 12 hits.

Wade (3-0) allowed three hits while walking three and striking out two for the Wildcats, who needed to beat Texas A&M Sunday night and Monday to advance. Arizona left-hander Bryce Bandilla closed out the game against the Pirates (34-25) with two shutout innings.

Tempe Regional

Arkansas 11, Charlotte 3

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Kyle Robinson had a double and triple and drove in three runs for Arkansas and Ryan Stanek (4-2) held Charlotte to three runs on six hits to help the Razorbacks eliminate the 49ers.

Arkansas (40-21) advanced to face host Arizona State (41-16) on Sunday night, needing a win to force a second game Monday night.

Charlotte (43-16) allowed 29 runs, all earned, in three games during the regional after coming into the weekend with the third-best ERA in Division I at 2.43.

Nashville Regional

Belmont 5, Troy 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Nate Woods pitched into the sixth and Belmont overcame a late scare to defeat Troy 5-2 on Sunday and advance to the championship round of the Nashville Regional.

Belmont (38-25) needed to beat Vanderbilt twice in order to win its first NCAA regional title.

Woods (7-5) gave up four hits and one run in five innings to win his fifth straight decision.

Trailing by a run, Troy (43-19) threatened in the eighth when the Trojans loaded the bases with two outs. But Garrett Fanchier got Tyler Hannah to fly out to deep left field. Troy left 12 runners on base.

Fullerton Regional

Illinois 7, Cal State Fullerton 5

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) - Matt Dittman singled in the go-ahead run in Illinois' three-run eighth inning and the Big Ten champion Illini held off Cal State Fullerton in an elimination game.

Two batters after Dittman gave Illinois (30-26) the lead against Titans closer Nick Ramirez (1-1), Davis Hendrickson had a two-two double to complete the scoring.

Chris Pack (8-1) came on in relief to get Ramirez to pop up with a runner on third in the ninth, ending the season for the Titans (41-17).

Los Angeles Regional

UCLA 4 San Francisco 1

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Adam Plutko limited San Francisco to one hit over 7 2-3 innings and UCLA beat the Dons to advance to the championship of the Los Angeles Regional.

The top-seeded Bruins (35-23) needed to beat UC Irvine (41-16) twice. Plutko (7-4) retired 12 of the first 13 batters, and didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning. The freshman struck out six.

Jonathan Abramson (2-3) allowed three runs - two earned - in 2 1-3 innings for the Dons (33-25).
