Cooking enthusiasts flocked Thursday to the Taste of Home Cooking School at Capitol Plaza Hotel.

Taste of Home magazine is a trusted source for tried-and-true recipes, so it's no wonder VIP tickets to the event sold out in no time and a line formed out the door before the event kicked off at 4 p.m.

Jefferson City resident Kathy Gabriel couldn't get tickets to last year's show, so she looked online to see when the next one would come to town.

This year, Gabriel brought her daughter, Sarah, and Sarah's boyfriend, Thad Beeler.

"I like to cook, but I'd say I'm more into grilling than cooking in the kitchen," Beeler said as the trio sat in the ballroom, reserving their seats.

Most of the attendees scanned the room for the best seats, reserving them with red "Reserved" signs from their swag bag before milling about the foyer where local businesses set up booths displaying everything from cooking gadgets and gourmet food to cosmetics and chiropractic care.
