Missouri homicide suspect dead after chase, shootout

MARSHALL, Mo. (AP) - Authorities in western Missouri say a man suspected of killing his wife in St. Joseph has died following a chase and shootout about 100 miles away.

But it was not clear Wednesday night if the man killed himself or was shot by law enforcement in a shootout along U.S. 65 south of Marshall.

Police told the St. Joseph News-Press that 27-year-old Amanda Arnold was killed around Wednesday afternoon in an apparent domestic dispute. Police began looking for a pickup truck belonging to the husband, 28-year-old Ty Arnold.

About 4 p.m., authorities in Lafayette County reported a dark blue pickup heading east on Interstate 70, about 50 miles east of Kansas City. Other officers picked up the chase and followed the truck north on U.S. 65, where the shootout took place.
