KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A third lawsuit has been filed against a former Kansas City priest accusing him of sexual misconduct with minors.
David Tate of Kansas City filed the lawsuit Thursday against the Rev. Michael Tierney. He alleges the priest abused him in the 1970s when he was 12 years old.
The lawsuit also names the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph and Bishop Robert Finn, alleging they knew of Tierney's abuse and covered it up.
In June, the diocese removed Tierney from public ministry over allegations contained in two earlier lawsuits. Tierney has consistently denied the allegations.
