Second City comedy troupe makes a stop in Jefferson City

One of the most renowned comedy troupes in America will make a stop in Jefferson City this month as part of a fundraising effort for various events in the downtown area.

The Second City from Chicago will perform at 7 p.m. July 28 at the Miller Performing Arts Center.

All proceeds from the performance will go to support Downtown Jefferson City's beautification and events including Living Windows, Holiday Lights, Thursday Night Live and Kids-Fest.

Tickets for the performance are $30 each.

Songs, sketches and improvisations from the group's 45-year history will be featured in this performance.

Director Ryan Bernier said, "Humor is the main goal, but we do it through song, political satire and quick scene changes. We try to hit the rainbow of comedy."

Tickets can be purchased in Jefferson City at Central Bank, Hawthorn Bank, Samuel's Tuxedos, Click-2Sell4U or go online at downtownjeffersoncity.org.
