Man found dead in downtown Springfield trash bin

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Police in Springfield are investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered in a downtown trash bin.

A passerby noticed the body in the large bin below the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge early Wednesday afternoon.

KSPR-TV reports police don't suspect foul play. Investigators say bedding and other items suggest the man was homeless. They say heat could have been a factor in his death, but the Greene County medical examiner will perform an autopsy.

Foul play has been ruled out in the deaths of two other people found recently in the city limits. On Saturday, the body of 55-year-old Gregory Foster was found in a wooded area. And 45-year-old Springfield resident Christina Glasstetter was found dead in her car Sunday in a Walmart parking lot.
