KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Health officials in Kansas City area say the Jackson County medical examiner is investigating three more possible heat-related deaths.
That brings to 13 the number of cases under investigation in the county so far this year.
The Kansas City Health Department said Wednesday the latest deaths are those of a woman born in 1936 and two men born in 1945 and 1964.
No other details, including when or where the deaths occurred, were provided. The Kansas City agency has been releasing only limited information on possible heat deaths, citing privacy concerns.
The National Weather Service has posted an excessive heat warning for most of Missouri until Saturday evening. Daytime highs are expected to be near or above 100 degrees, with a heat index 106 to 111.
