Several area wrestlers recently competed at the Midwest Nationals at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill.
Wrestlers from 13 states competed at the event.
Evan Winder (Immaculate Conception Elementary School) picked up national champion honors at 69.8 pounds in the third- and fourth-grade division. He finished the tournament 3-0 with a win by fall and two wins by decisions.
Cole Hazelhorst of New Bloomfield and Jeremy Carr (Helias High School) finished in fifth place, Drake Winder (Immaculate Conception Elementary School) finished sixth, while Jason Carr (Helias High School) was a national placer.
