Playing for the crown: Juniors advance to title game of Zone Tournament

The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Aflac Juniors had no trouble moving to the title game of the Washington Zone Tournament.

Chandler Wolfe tossed a complete game shutout and the offense pounded out 10 hits in a 7-0 victory Friday against Washington Post 218.

Washington's 6-0 win in an elimination game later Friday means Post 218 and Post 5 will meet at 5 p.m. today for the title. If Post 5 loses, the teams will play another game to determine the champion of the double-elimination event.

Wolfe allowed just two hits over seven innings Friday while striking out eight and walking six.

Post 5 opened the scoring with three runs in the second and two in the fourth, and added insurance runs in the fifth and seventh.

Corey Beard, Trevor Schnieders, Clayton Harrison and Patrick Schnieders all had two hits to pace the Juniors. Trevor Schnieders added two RBI for the winners.

The Juniors also took advantage of four Washington errors.
