Cable causes power outage

An area that was affected by a power outage early Wednesday when storms rolled through the Jefferson City area experienced another outage Friday morning.

According to Ameren Missouri officials, the outage occurred around 7:30 a.m. and affected 1,357 customers.

Failure of an underground cable near the YMCA on Ellis Boulevard was the cause of the outage.

Most customers had power back on in about 20 minutes, but it wasn't until 10:15 a.m. that all customers had power restored to them.

Traffic signals in the area were affected by the outage, but police were able to direct traffic while work to restore power took place.
