Wagner raises $500K for Mo. congressional bid

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Former Missouri Republican Party Chairwoman Ann Wagner says she raised more than $500,000 for her congressional campaign.

Wagner said Wednesday that she raised $523,130 during the first nine weeks of her campaign for the 2nd Congressional District in suburban St. Louis. She had $506,355 in her campaign account at the end of the reporting period on June 30.

Wagner released her figures in advance of Friday's reporting deadline to the Federal Election Commission.

She is one of two Republicans running to succeed U.S. Rep. Todd Akin, a Republican who is running for U.S. Senate next year. The other Republican in the congressional race is attorney Ed Martin, who was chief of staff to former Gov. Matt Blunt. Martin has not released his fundraising figures yet.
