Flooding extends Amtrak disruption in Mo.

One of the Amtrak Missouri River Runner round-trips between St. Louis and Kansas City is temporarily suspended through July 19.

This is due to the diversion of additional Union Pacific Railroad freight traffic from flooded tracks onto the Union Pacific route used by the Missouri River Runner trains west of Jefferson City.

The trains not running:

Train 311, the morning westbound train from St. Louis

Train 316, the afternoon eastbound train from Kansas City

Alternate transportation by chartered motorcoach will be provided only to and from St. Louis, Kirkwood, Jefferson City, Sedalia, Warrensburg and Kansas City.

Passengers will also be directed to Amtrak Missouri River Runner Trains 313 & 314, which will continue to operate to all scheduled stops, and to the Amtrak Southwest Chief (Trains 3 & 4), which uses a different route east of Kansas City.
