Columbia parks worker killed in truck accident

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - A seasonal worker for Columbia's Parks and Recreation Department has died in an accident involving a dump truck.

City officials identified the victim as William Bell, who was working alone Friday morning pouring gravel at an access point to Columbia's MKT nature and fitness trail.

Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Sapp told the Columbia Daily Tribune that Bell was caught between the cab and the bed of the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said Bell was in his fifth season working for the parks department.
