DANVILLE, Mo. (AP) - Authorities in eastern Missouri's Montgomery County have identified an apparent homicide victim found last week at a quarry.
The sheriff's department named the victim Wednesday as 56-year-old Edward W. Jefferson of Kansas City. Investigators have said Jefferson apparently died of a gunshot wound, but they've released few other details.
Montgomery County Sheriff Bob Davis said last week that workers arriving at the Danville quarry Friday morning found the body in the parking lot.
Authorities say Jefferson had no apparent ties to the Montgomery County area.
The state Highway Patrol's Violent Crime Unit is helping with the investigation.
