Missouri River Regional Library has five new computers thanks to a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
"This grant is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provision of the Library Services and Technology act as administered by the Missouri State Library division of the office of the Secretary of State," Nikki Bateman, computer center supervisor and training coordinator for the library, said.
This is the second grant Bateman has written and received for the library.
When writing the grant, she requested about $4,500 to help replace five pubic computers that were not only outdated, but not performing up to par. She was awarded $2,500.
"They were about six years old, the USB ports were dead, CD drives did not work and the fans would run so loudly that you could not hear someone helping you at the reference desk." Bateman said. "The computers were so slow that patrons did not like using them."
