ST. LOUIS (AP) - Two of three players in a $1.5 million bank fraud scheme have been sentenced.
The St. Louis Louis Post-Dispatch reported that prison sentences of less than two years each were imposed Friday in federal court in St. Louis against 44-year-old Yuriy Shrifteylik and 31-year-old David Ryan Hunt.
Shrifteylik formerly ran a Neighborhood Clinic and admitted in September that he used false information to obtain two loans from Commerce Bank in 2007 that were supposed to be used for MRI machines that were never purchased.
Hunt is a former bank employee who pleaded guilty in June to a conspiracy charge for taking bribes in exchange for helping Shrifteylik secure the fraudulent loan.
Court documents say the third player in the fraud was Vatchagan Petrosian. He was killed in suburban St. Louis, and his death remains unsolved.
