Jays fall in 4OT

The Jefferson City Jays had their chances in the opening round of the Lindbergh Tournament, but ended up dropping a 66-61 heartbreaker in quadruple overtime to Sedalia Smith-Cotton.

Paul McMahon led the Jays with 24 points. Brenden Jackson added 13, while Billy Brehe dropped in nine.

The Jays (7-8) trailed 14-8 after one quarter and were down 22-16 at the half and 35-28 after three before rallying in the fourth to tie the game at 43.

Blair Oaks 56, St. James 48

ST. JAMES - Blair Oaks advanced to the championship game of the St. James Tournament with a 56-48 win Friday over host St. James.

The Falcons will take on Hillsboro in the championship game, which is set to tip off at 8 p.m.

Blair Oaks (10-3) took a 12-7 lead after the first quarter and built a 31-22 advantage at the half by outscoring St. James 19-15. The Tigers cut the lead to 33-31 with 3:31 left in the third quarter before the Falcons closed out the period on a 10-2 run to take a 43-33 edge into the final frame.
