Guitars, mandolins, fiddles and many other instruments hummed throughout the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City this weekend, as several bands and their fans came together to celebrate bluegrass music.
Musicians came together in large groups or small clusters surrounded by fans in the lobby of the hotel, singing along with the bands' lyrics and tapping their feet to the beat at the 37th annual Bluegrass Music Awards organized by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America for bands in the Midwest.
The weekend also featured a convention for bluegrass music, with several bands selling CDs and memorabilia and other artists hosting workshops on instrumental technique.
