Too much pressure

Too much pressure

January 15th, 2011 in News

At times, the Jefferson City Jays displayed the fire that got them on a winning streak.

Then there were times they just looked lost.

Coming into the Central Bank Shootout, the Jays had ripped off five straight wins. That streak came to a screeching halt Friday night as the Jays turned the ball over 29 times in a 77-65 loss to Cape Girardeau Notre Dame at Rackers Fieldhouse.

"We're disappointed and certainly frustrated," Jays coach David Fox said. "We had some guys play totally out of character tonight for whatever reason.

"When you come off a championship (at the Joplin Tournament), you feel pretty good about yourself. ... We saw a pretty good team in Cape Girardeau Notre Dame, but I think we just didn't handle their pressure very well."

Jefferson City (7-5) turned the ball over 12 times in the first quarter and had 19 at the break.
