Bids on new animal shelter coming due

Members of the Jefferson City finance committee discussed Friday how bids will be handled for a new animal shelter.

Charlie Lansford, interim director of community development, told the committee the bid specifications came back from Architects Alliance earlier this month and went out to bid soon after. He said the bids will be due back by Jan. 25.

Lansford also said, with the bid specifications in from Architects Alliance, the city now has a better idea of how much it will cost to build the shelter, which will be located at Hyde Park. While original estimates placed the price tag at $1.2 million, Lansford said he now believes the cost will come in closer to $1 million.
